Soooo….An about page. Been a while since I have written one of these. Guess we start at the beginning and work our way forward.
Hey, I’m Jacob. I’ve been on and off the interwebs since the early days. I’ve had this site since the early 00′s and it started mainly as my little corner of the web and eventually evolved into both a soapbox for myself as well as a home for a small collection of free software that I both used and suggested to other people (Flatrabbit Freeware). During this time I was very active on both IRC and many IT based forums. In the years since then I’ve been a Linux Evangelist, Mac Hater, and all around Google Fanboy.
Thankfully age has mellowed me a bit and now I generally like to concern myself with my photography as well as various Zen Buddhist teachings. I’m also an avid gamer and music listener. Both these hobbies are relaxing and challenging in ways that make me happy.
I’m married to a wonderful woman who has managed to put up with me for well over a decade (which is not an easy task let me tell you) and have 3 teenage boys. Our family is rounded out with 2 very small dogs (Toby and Shanti), one almost small dog who thinks he’s a big dog (Gizmo) and a mangy feline (Tigger) who still believes that the house is just one big place for him to sleep.
For the record I’m a veggie, both for the healthy aspect of it as well as the ethical reasons. I’m what is generally considered a Lacto-Ovo style vegetarian. I’m also a follower of Zen Buddhism, a path that has interested me for many years but recently became a more active part of my life.
And that brings us to sports, I tend to follow most sports but I love both Hockey and Major League Soccer. My favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Seattle Sounders FC respectively.
